Yahoo! Europa redovisar antalet unika besökare och trafiken för kvartal 4 1999

Yahoo! Europa hade under fjärde kvartalet 1999 över 880 annonsörer och affärspartners. Antalet unika besökare för Yahoo! Europa uppgick till 18 miljoner under december månad.

London, Jan. 11, 2000 - Yahoo! Europe today announced its fourth quarter 1999 reach, audience and traffic figures. These numbers follow financial results announced today by Yahoo! Inc. (attached), which include net revenues of $201,083,000 for the fourth quarter ended Dec. 31, 1999. In addition, Yahoo! Inc.'s non-U.S. operations represented 13 percent of total consolidated revenues during the fourth quarter.

Reach, audience and traffic highlights for Yahoo! Europe during 1999 include the following:

  • Amongst home users in the UK, Germany and France combined, Yahoo! was ranked highest in reach in November 1999 by MMXI Europe (part of the Media Metrix Inc. group).
  • On a country by country basis, Yahoo! leads with 55% reach in the UK (Fletcher, November 1999), 56% in Germany (GfK, August 1999) and 63% in France (Mediangles, December 1999).
  • Eighteen million unique users in Western Europe visited the Yahoo! Europe network of eight local sites during the month of December 1999.
  • Page views during the month of December 1999 on the Yahoo! Europe network of local sites exceeded 550 million, including more than 137 million in the UK, more than 169 million in Germany and more than 154 million in France.

During the quarter, Yahoo! Europe continued to expand its merchant and advertising services as well as its commerce, communication and media agreements.

Commerce, Communications, Media

Following on from agreements with NatWest Bank in the UK and Open Bank in Spain during the third quarter 1999, in the fourth quarter Yahoo! teamed up with three additional banks to provide bank account information integration via Yahoo! Finance and My Yahoo!:

  • with Deutsche Bank 24, Germany´s first integrated retail and online bank, part of Deutsche Bank, the world's largest bank;
  • with Banque Directe, France's first internet bank, part of the BNP-Paribas group;
  • and with Banca 121, the private personal finance bank, part of Banca Del Salento in Italy.

Yahoo! UK & Ireland also launched a Yahoo! Visa card with Bank One.

Yahoo! Shopping expanded its shopping services in fourth quarter 1999 to facilitate transactions in the UK, France and Germany. Yahoo! Shopping offers a one-stop online shopping service, which helps shoppers locate, compare and buy thousands of products. Merchants include Freemans, Hewlett Packard, WHSmith, 3 Suisses, Quelle, Brinkmann and Vobis. Local Yahoo! Auctions services are now offered in seven of the eight Yahoo! Europe properties.

Yahoo! Spain and Correos y Telégrafos, Spain's post office and one of Europe's principal postal players, launched a free, co-branded Yahoo! Mail service for Internet-enabled Correos y Telégrafos customers.

In addition, Yahoo! Europe concluded the fourth quarter 1999 with more than 300 content provider agreements across Europe.

Merchant and Advertiser Services

Yahoo! Europe's advertiser and merchant base increased to more than 880 unique clients during the fourth quarter 1999. Advertisers in 1999 included clients such as AXA Insurance, British Airways, Boxman, bücher.de, Christian Dior, Consors, El Corte Ingles, Ericsson, Fiat, FNAC, IBM, Renault, Siemens and TIM.

Distribution

During 1999, Yahoo! Europe teamed up with telecommunications companies, retailers and wireless device providers to make Yahoo! content and services available to a wider number of users. This included free Internet access services with HMV and Waterstones, two leading UK high street retailers; with Oxfam, the UK's largest international aid agency; with Mannesmann Arcor, the second largest telecommunications service provider in Germany; with CyberCity, a leading ISP in Denmark; and with Wind, an Italian telecommunications company. In addition, Yahoo! Germany, and Mannesmann Mobilfunk GmbH (D2), Germany's largest mobile communications service provider, joined forces to deliver Internet services to D2 users.
